Two thousand years ago, on the site of today's Excelsior Parco, there was a Roman villa, as is testified by the ancient column in Egyptian alabaster which now stands at the entrance of the hotel. The other columns are displayed in Naples' Archeological museum. In 1906 the present day villa was constructed according to the principals of the Liberty style, which were in vogue at the time, with the addition of a few details typical of Capri's architectural tradition. The villa became the haven of artists and intellectuals seeking refuge on the island of Capri. In 2006 a complete restoration and renovation of the edifice transformed the villa into a 4 star boutique luxury hotel, in which to experience the traditional hospitality of Capri's most elegant villas.
